A very recognized brand throughout Asia
bC India 2014 was a great and successful show in a year with very tough market conditions. Despite the sluggish market in India, bC India 2014 was of similar size to the 2013 show. Its brand recognition as well as its reputation were strengthened among exhibitors and visitors alike.
Igor Palka, Chief Executive Officer, bC Expo India
Mr. Igor Palka, let's take a brief look back: How was the last bC India?
The last bC India in 2014 was a great and successful show in a year with very tough market conditions. The construction equipment industry in India has been waiting for the upswing for more than three years now and recently sentiment has been very positive. bC India strengthened this upward trend and establish its position as one of the leading trade shows in India.
How has bC India developed over the years?
bC India started with a brilliant first edition in 2011 featuring 508 exhibitors. We were able to significantly increase the number of exhibitors to 710 in 2013, even though overall market conditions had been declining. Despite a still sluggish market in India, bC India 2014 was of a similar size to the show in 2013; its brand recognition as well as its reputation were strengthened among exhibitors and visitors alike. I should also mention that the show changed its venue from Mumbai to Greater Noida/Delhi NCR in 2014, and that it again reached out to over 26,000 trade visitors.
And now a look forward: What are your expectations for the next BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA?
The circumstances for BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA, as the show will be called from now on, will again be completely different. Hopefully by then we will be experiencing much better market conditions and our customers higher growth rates. Based on the outlook we are definitely expecting a bigger show with more participants than ever before and eventually crossing the bar of over 30,000 trade visitors. We are also analyzing which additional topics can be added to the show's portfolio and which sectors need to be represented on a much larger scale than in the previous editions. However one point will remain unchanged, which is our guiding theme “Quality makes the difference,” meaning that BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA will deliver the best quality in terms of exhibitors, visitors and show organization.
In your opinion, how will the local market develop in the medium term?
As highlighted before, the market has witnessed a slowdown over a very long period, many voices in the industry say even too long. After the change of government in India and the strong focus on road development and infrastructure, everybody is expecting the Indian construction equipment market to get back on its original track and eventually even reach double-digit growth rates. In due consideration of the huge potential in India, this is definitely a realistic prospect.
