On 15th May 2020, bC Expo India Pvt. Ltd. and Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (iCEMA) brought together the experts from the infrastructure and construction equipment sector on one platform for an engaging and insightful webinar.

The webinar centered around the topic ‘Business Continuity for Infrastructure Development Projects and Construction Equipment Industry’. General (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh(Retd.), Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways was the chief guest and added tremendous value to the webinar.

The panel was spearheaded by an esteemed set of panellist—Mr. Arvind Garg, Chairman, bauma CONEXPO INDIA—Task Force and Executive Vice President and Head, Construction and Mining Machinery at Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Mr. Sandeep Singh, Managing Director, Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery and President, iCEMA, Mr. Deepak Garg, Managing Director, Sany Heavy Industries India Pvt Ltd., Mr. Sakthikumar Govindarajan, Managing Director, Schwing Stetter India Pvt Ltd., Mr. D.K. Vyas, Managing Director, Srei Equipment Finance Ltd., and Mr. Sorab Agarwal, Executive Director, Action Construction Equipment Ltd. It was moderated by Mr. Rajesh Nath, Managing Director, VDMA India.

General (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh(Retd.) shared his insights on the current industry situation, in light of COVID-19 and stressed on the importance of strategizing by stating, “This is an opportunity to critically re-examine, rethink and put up proposals to people that can bring about change; since the way we do business in the future will surely change.” He also shed light on steps taken by the government by asserting that, “Measures have been taken by the government to ensure the flow of liquidity. As of today, we have already started 1,119 projects. The government is also trying to rationalize and streamline procedures and is moving towards digitalization.”

iCEMA works as a bridge between the government and the industry and plays a key role as communicator and voice of the sector. On behalf of iCEMA, Mr. Sandeep Singh emphasized the importance of the recent stimulus package in creating demand and the National Infrastructure Pipeline of Rs. 102 lakh crore announced by the government to boost infrastructure growth.

The webinar roped in over 2,419 delegates. It was also live on Facebook and garnered over 3,500 views. The webinar provided an overview of the impact of the current situation on the

infrastructure and construction equipment sector. It addressed key challenges and rendered direction to effectively navigate through this crisis.
